Q:Why do people say "I identify as such-and-such" instead of "I am such-and-such"? For instance, if someone asked me my religion, then I would reply that I am a Catholic. But other people might say something along the lines of "I identify as Catholic."
i don’t see anything wrong with the word identify in itself. but i think the way it’s used is starting to bug me now, because i think people use it to: 1. show how in touch with the jargon they are and thus have the “right” mindset, and 2. they think that because they identify as something, and feeling is 100% right, they have the final say in something. idk, i’m starting to prefer “i am gay” and “i am a woman” (trans or not) over “i identify as gay” and “i identify as female”
Identify is just the latest victim on the long list of words that tumblr has abused into annoying almost-meaninglessness for me.
A moment of silence for those we’ve lost since tumblr’s inception.
…We will miss you dear friends.
it does not means that I am trans exclusionary. What it does mean, however, is that I advocate for a world without the gender binary—one in which all people (gender conforming or not) would not be constrained to the norms and scripts associated with their biological sex. There would be no…
That last post reblogged from Wtfsocialjustice makes me think about a social justice buzzwords drinking game.
Such words can include: colonialism, kyiarchy, gender binary, self-indentified, white narratives, white males, ciswhitehets, cisarchy, cisheterpatriarchy, oppression, etc.
I find it hilarious that people praise a huge megacorporation for having a commercial that is “inclusive” and “diverse”, meanwhile the company is doing jack shit for actual equality and as a bonus very likely has manufacturing systems that involve sweat shop labor and environmental destruction that harms poor people in developing countries more.
Q:i love your blog! i also happened to be tired and fed up with all of this social justice garbage, and i get a big laugh reading about all of this! keep up the excellent work!
Q:That's an awful lot of time and energy you're wasting here. People won't stop posting about important issues just because you're tired of them.
A lot of people are getting tired of bullshit. Not just me.
Q:Def followed you because im sick of SJW and SJ in general I don't believe in SJW or SJ I believe in Equality.
This sounds exactly like academia gender studies crap. All these buzzwords like “colonialism” and “narratives”, things that, like gender have had the meaning hollowed out of them.
yeah wester medicine is so colonialist and racist, let’s get rid of doctors and just use traditional cures for everything
also because some people of color have alternate views of gender, it totally gives white suburban kids with little exposure to traditional cultures the right to dictate being whatever culture they want. lol
Robin Thicke sings a song with predatory themes = he’s a literal rapist
Nicki Minaj raps about how she’s going to rape people = omggg total feminist hero
Excellent criticism of demisexuality as a sexual orientation/oppressed identity.
descriptions of heterosexual traditional media that violate feminist values by tumblr: gross, creepy, rapey, abuse apologism
descriptions of gay fanfiction with similar themes by tumblr: fun, hot, empowering, romantic
does anyone not see the double standards here?
I think the real bad news is that people are buying it and soon “SpecialGender” will now be in about mes.
The ultimate in “straight cis white people want to be oppressed”
the good news is that one is a joke, it’s a joke blog.
the bad news is that there is actually an ideology who is like that.
I feel your pain. We need to do something about this bullshit in colleges.
What the fresh hell is this? Granted this is the only dorm I’ve seen this in but I really couldn’t deal I’ve seen this everyday
Anyways I am stopping by in Grinnell Iowa for a couple of days so if anyone who reads this blog and hasn’t already met me wants to hmu let me know in fan mail or something
Does anyone here have any experience speaking out against SJWism in college?
